Hear the Warning When the Phones Go Quiet
NOAA weather radio reaches you without a cell tower, Wi-Fi or an app.
When the power goes out, the cell towers follow a few hours later, and the phone in your hand goes quiet. The CLEARSIGNAL R2 brings in the National Weather Service broadcast straight from its own transmitters, so you still hear the warnings, the storm track and the all-clear. It runs on its own rechargeable battery or on three AAA batteries from your drawer, with solar and the hand crank as backups. Keep it on the shelf by your door, as standard as a smoke detector.

Four Ways to Keep It Running
Two batteries: a built-in rechargeable you charge over USB-C, and three everyday AAA you can swap in any time.
USB-C: charge the built-in 4000mAh battery at the start of storm season; a full charge gives about 24 hours of listening.
Solar: the panel on the flip-up lid tops it up slowly on a sunny windowsill.
Hand crank: one minute of cranking gives about 20 minutes of radio.
AAA: three everyday AAA batteries go in the back, no tools needed. Slide the front switch to AAA and it runs straight off them (Li-ion for the built-in battery).
No App. No Monthly Fee.
No phone, no cell tower, no Wi-Fi needed to hear the weather.
NOAA broadcasts travel straight from National Weather Service transmitters to the radio. You pay once, and it is yours.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work when cell service is down?
Does it work when cell service is down?
Yes, that is what it is for. NOAA weather radio comes from the National Weather Service's own network of 1,000+ transmitters, not from cell towers. No bars, still receiving.
What batteries does it take?
What batteries does it take?
Two. A built-in rechargeable battery (4000mAh) that you charge over USB-C, and a full charge gives about 24 hours of listening, plus a backup slot for three everyday AAA batteries you can swap in any time. The switch on the front picks which one you're running on: Li-ion for the built-in battery, AAA for the drawer batteries. AAA batteries are not in the box.
How do I keep it charged?
How do I keep it charged?
Charge it over USB-C at the start of storm season. A full charge gives about 24 hours of listening, and the four battery lights on the front show how much is left. A sunny windowsill tops it up slowly, a minute of cranking gives about 20 minutes of radio, and three AAA batteries keep it playing when the battery runs low.
Can it really charge my phone?
Can it really charge my phone?
Yes, enough for the message that matters. Ten to fifteen minutes of cranking puts enough charge through the USB port for an emergency text home. It is not a replacement for a wall charger, and no hand-crank radio is.
Do I need an app or a subscription?
Do I need an app or a subscription?
No. Nothing to download, nothing to sign up for, no monthly fee. You buy it once, charge it, and it is ready.
Can I get one for each household?
Can I get one for each household?
Yes. One for your kitchen, one at your daughter's, one at your son's, or one at your parents' place. The Two Pack works out to $85 per radio and the Three Pack to $80 per radio.
What does the SOS button do?
What does the SOS button do?
Press and hold it for a loud alarm and a flashing strobe light, so neighbors or rescuers can find you when your voice can't carry.
What if I can't pick up a NOAA station?
What if I can't pick up a NOAA station?
Reception depends on terrain and distance to your nearest transmitter. Pull the antenna all the way out, slide the band switch to WB, and turn the TUNING knob slowly, near a window or on a higher floor. The National Weather Service publishes a coverage map at weather.gov/nwr, and most of the US population is within range of at least one transmitter.
Will it sound an alarm on its own when a warning is issued?
Will it sound an alarm on its own when a warning is issued?
No. It has no automatic alert mode, so it won't switch itself on. When a storm is on the way, turn it on, slide the band switch to WB, and you hear the National Weather Service's live broadcast, including any warnings for your area. Many families leave it playing on WB through a storm watch.
